Make no mistake: the 2026 Toyota Crown is a luxury sedan. With its elevated stance, elegant fastback silhouette, and refined interior, it blends upscale looks and amenities with advanced hybrid performance in a way few vehicles can match. With standard all-wheel drive and two gas-electric powertrain options, including the exhilarating 340-horsepower Hybrid MAX, the Crown spoils its driver two-fold with dynamic capability and impressive efficiency. From its tech-rich cabin with standard leather upholstery and a 12.3-inch touchscreen to a smooth, quiet ride tuned for comfort, the ‘26 Crown challenges conventional notions of where luxury begins.

Trims and Powertrains

The all-wheel-drive ‘26 Crown is offered in four trims with two different gas-electric powertrains. The XLE, Limited, and Nightshade get the 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine paired with dual electric motors and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT). Supported by a high-output battery, this hybrid system produces a combined 236 horsepower and achieves an EPA-estimated 42 mpg city/41 mpg highway. A drive mode selector allows drivers to fine-tune performance with settings for Eco, Sport, EV, and Normal in all but the Platinum, which instead gets Eco, Rear Comfort, Normal, Sport, and Custom settings.

The top-of-the-line Platinum carries Toyota’s Turbo Hybrid MAX powertrain. This setup combines a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with dual electric motors and a high-voltage battery, putting out 340 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque via a direct-shift 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Despite the higher output, it still achieves EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 29 mpg city/32 mpg highway.

Each grade is outfitted with a host of performance-enhancing equipment, including active cornering assist, an electronically controlled braking system with regenerative capabilities, and power-assisted ventilated front and solid rear disc brakes. The Platinum optimizes its ride quality and handling through a dynamic rear steering system and an adaptive variable suspension, replacing the standard electric power steering found on the three lower trims. settings.

Standard Features and Major Options

The XLE may be the base trim, but it’s handsomely equipped with leather upholstery, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, and heated and ventilated front seats as the highlights. It also has 8-way power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, remote keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a Smart Key system, heated power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signals, puddle lamps, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12-volt power outlet, five USB ports (two front/two rear/one center console), bi-LED projector headlights, LED taillights, and 19-inch alloy wheels with a two-tone machined finish.

The Limited moves toward loaded territory with leather upholstery (available in Black and Saddle Tan, Macadamia, or Black), heated rear outboard seats, memory settings for the driver’s seat, quad-LED projector headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a panoramic fixed-glass roof with a power sunshade. The Nightshade has exclusive design elements such as matte-black 21-inch wheels, darkened badging, and a blacked-out treatment on the door handles, window trim, and side mirrors. The Platinum trim further distinguishes itself with a heated leather-wrapped power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a 10-inch color head-up display, Digital Key, 21-inch machined alloy wheels with black accents, a power trunk with a hands-free kick sensor, and an available bi-tone paint scheme.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Every ‘26 Crown is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, a comprehensive suite of driver-assistive technologies that includes proactive drive assist, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane tracing assist, lane departure warning with steering assist, dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. The entire lineup also has a rear-seat reminder, safe exit alert, a vehicle proximity notification system, and collision sensors that automatically disable the high-voltage battery in the event of a severe impact.

All but the XLE gain a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, as well as front and rear parking assist with automatic braking. The Limited is the only trim eligible for the Advanced Tech Package, which comes with a panoramic view monitor, lane change assist, traffic jam assist, and front cross-traffic alert. The Platinum gets the most safety tech, with the addition of advanced park and a panoramic-view monitor.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The standard multimedia features in the ‘26 Crown’s 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system start with wireless versions of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth. Trial subscriptions to Toyota connected services (cloud navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, and emergency response assistance) are included, too. The XLE is outfitted with a six-speaker audio system, while the Limited and above upgrade to a JBL premium unit with 11 speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier.
