2026 Toyota Corolla Hero

Toyota’s compact sedan first hit American roads in 1968 with a trifecta of alluring attributes that included value, efficiency, and an easy-to-drive compact size. Fast-forward nearly six decades later, and you’ll see that this winning formula is still going strong. The ‘26 Corolla achieves up to 41 mpg – excellent for a non-hybrid vehicle – and every grade is outfitted with seven driver-assistive safety technologies. Plus, its starting price remains well below that of key competitors like the Honda Civic Sedan and the Mazda3 Sedan. The changes are simple for the new model year: A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is now standard, and all three trims get a larger digital gauge cluster (7 inches for the LE and SE and 12.3 inches for the XSE).

Trims and Mechanical Specs

The LE, SE, and XSE make up the ‘26 Corolla Sedan lineup. Each is driven by a 169-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that uses a continuously variable transmission (with paddle shifters on the XSE) to manage the front-wheel drivetrain. Fuel economy is dependent on the trim level, with the LE taking the crown with an EPA-estimated 32 mpg city/41 mpg highway. The SE follows at 31 mpg city/40 mpg highway, with the XSE returning 31 mpg city/38 mpg highway. A drive-mode selector comes standard, with Normal and Eco settings for the LE, while the SE and XSE gain a Sport setting along with a multilink rear suspension.

Standard Features

The ‘26 Corolla lineup leads off with the LE, which gets remote keyless entry, automatic climate control, LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights and brake lights, power-adjustable side-view mirrors, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, four USB ports (two front/two rear), 16-inch steel wheels with covers, and a 12-volt power outlet. The SE introduces sport-style seats with special fabric inserts, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, metallic interior trim with chrome door handles, a sport mesh grille, a single exhaust with dual chrome tips, gray metallic side rocker panels, a color-keyed rear spoiler, a smart key system, heated power side-view mirrors, and 18-inch alloy wheels with graphite-colored finish. The DRLs add accent lighting. The XSE is loaded with interior upgrades, including a power moonroof, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front sport seats with sport fabric inserts, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with paddle shifters, wireless device charging, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

The ‘26 Corolla protects its passengers from every angle with high-tensile-strength steel body panels, energy absorbing crumple zones (front/rear), whiplash-injury-lessening front seats, an energy-absorbing collapsible steering column, 10 airbags, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. Thanks to this standard technology suite, every trim receives dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert with steering assist, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and road sign assist. As mentioned earlier, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is now standard as well.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The multimedia hub for the two lower trims has an 8-inch color touchscreen and a six-speaker audio system as its main components. Every trim gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and access to the full slate of Toyota connected car services. The XSE moves up to a 10.5-inch color touchscreen and is eligible for a JBL branded audio upgrade with nine speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier.
