2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback for Sale in Smithfield, RI
There’s so much to love about the Toyota Corolla, from its affordability to its rock-solid reputation for longevity. The Corolla Hatchback, though, has another aspect to its appeal, with its added cargo capacity and sleek body style. Younger drivers who have places to go and goods to accommodate are especially drawn to this version. Like its sedan sibling, the 2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback packs in a lot at a nice price point, including a full roster of standard active safety aids, plenty of multimedia technology, and other equipment to keep you safe, connected, and comfortable.
Trims and Mechanical Specs
Three trims make up the Corolla Hatchback lineup for 2022: the SE, SE Nightshade Edition, and XSE. A 168-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) form their powertrain. The EPA has estimated that the SE and SE Nightshade Edition will get 32 mpg in city travel and 41 mpg on the highway, while the XSE with its additional standard features returns 30 city/38 highway.
On the Outside and Inside
The SE puts other economy-car base trims to shame with upscale exterior features like automatic on/off LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, automatic high beams, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, a keyless entry system, and 16-inch wheels. The SE Nightshade Edition adds some dramatic flourishes with its all-black accents, including 18-inch wheels. The XSE goes back to color-keyed elements and 18-inch machine-finished wheels; its side mirrors are also improved with blind-spot warning indicators.
Even more desirable equipment can be found inside the ’22 Corolla Hatchback. The SE and SE Nightshade Edition both get automatic climate control, push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, two USB charging ports, a 12-volt power outlet, a Sport drive mode selector, and a 60/40-split fold-down rear seatback that also includes a foldable center armrest with cupholders. The XSE adds a second zone to its automatic climate control and upgrades its seats with genuine leather; the front row has heated sport seats with fabric inserts; the driver’s is power-adjustable. Wireless smartphone charging is optional.
All three trims also have an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, a six-speaker sound system, and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. The XSE is eligible for integrated navigation, a deluxe eight-speaker JBL sound system, and voice recognition. Every trim provides 17.8 cubic feet of cargo space and 84.6 cu. ft. of total passenger volume, so there should be plenty of room for keeping occupants comfortable and stowing their belongings.
Safety and Technology
Advanced safety is guaranteed in every trim level since each comes with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 (TSS 2.0) bundle of driver-assist features. This includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist, and lane tracing assist. The XSE is sweetened with a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, both of which are optional for the SE.
