Toyota sells the ’25 Sequoia in six trims: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition, and Capstone. All are stimulated by Toyota’s i-FORCE MAX Hybrid powertrain, which features a twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor producing 437 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque married to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) with an automatic limited-slip differential is standard on the SR5 and Limited. With the remaining trims, a part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system with an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case is the rule. This more sophisticated drivetrain can be ordered with the SR5 and Limited.
The i-FORCE MAX Hybrid powertrain allows this latest Sequoia to achieve good fuel economy numbers, especially for its size. The SR5 and Limited with RWD achieve an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Opting for 4WD reduces these figures to 19 city/22 highway, which is also the fuel return of the other 4WD-exclusive trims. As mentioned above, the ’25 Sequoia is a strong towing vehicle. It can handle anywhere from 8,980 pounds to 9,520 pounds, depending on the trim and drivetrain.
The SR5 has a well-outfitted interior with fabric upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, push-button start, a moonroof, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, three-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and multi-functional 60/40-split second- and third-row seats. Its exterior highlights consist of full LED lights (including fog lights), proximity keyless entry, heated power-folding side mirrors (with driver’s side auto-dimming, passenger-side reverse gear tilt-down, and blind-spot/turn-signal indicators), and roof rails.
The Limited gets a jump on amenities with SofTex (synthetic leather) upholstery, ventilated front seats with position memory for the driver, a heated steering wheel, two 120-volt power outlets, an illuminated center console storage bin, and manual second- and third-row sunshades. The Platinum dials up the luxury even more with genuine leather upholstery, massaging front seats, heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs, a panoramic moonroof, a wireless phone charger, ambient interior lighting, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a digital rearview mirror, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and auto-leveling LED headlights.
The TRD Pro closely resembles the Limited in its features, but it adds wireless phone charging, second-row captain’s chairs, and a digital rearview mirror. Where this trim really stands out is with its off-road enhancements: an off-road suspension, underbody skid plates, all-terrain tires, an electronically controlled locking rear differential, a Multi-Terrain Monitor (with selectable front, side, and rear views), and Multi-Terrain Select with crawl control and downhill assist control. This specialized trim also gets a distinctive LED light bar, exclusive body graphics and decals, a dual-tip exhaust, red interior accents, aluminum sport pedals, and all-weather floor mats.
The 1794 Edition builds on the Platinum’s equipment list with tan leather upholstery, walnut wood-grain interior trim, Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist, and all-weather floor mats. At the top of the lineup, the Capstone boasts semi-aniline leather upholstery, a 10-inch head-up display, automatic power-extending running boards, dark walnut wood-grain interior trim, and special Capstone signifiers. Many of the deluxe features that come standard on higher trims are offered as options for the lower trims.
The all-encompassing Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of advanced driving aids is installed in every 2025 Sequoia, with all trims getting a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Also standard are front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, a blind-spot view monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view camera. Only the 1794 Edition is equipped with Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist.
The infotainment system in the base SR5 is contained within an 8-inch touchscreen and includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, a complimentary 30-day trial to Wi-Fi Connect, an eight-speaker audio system, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. The Limited and remaining trims upgrade to a 14-inch touchscreen (which is available for the SR5). The Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition, and Capstone all come with a swankier 14-speaker JBL audio system, which is optional for the SR5 and Limited.
Toyota’s advanced Drive Connect service is offered as well, providing Cloud Navigation with Google Points of Interest, Intelligent Assistant voice recognition, and Destination Assist. A one-year trial is included in all but the SR5, after which a paid subscription is required.
