2025 Toyota Corolla FX Hero

Before the Corolla Hatchback, there was the Corolla FX16. Introduced in 1986, this limited-production three-door car had hot-hatch styling that was futuristic for its time. Now, more than 35 years after its debut, Toyota is paying tribute to this innovative model with a special trim level of the 2025 Corolla called the FX. This retro edition has a dark-themed appearance, ride-enhancing equipment, and upgraded tech, including a 10.5-inch color touchscreen—a first for the Corolla.

Powertrain and Performance

Toyota pairs the Dynamic Force 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission in the FX for a powertrain that makes an efficient 169 horsepower with a fuel economy rating of 34 combined mpg. This special Corolla grade is built on the TNGA-C platform (or Toyota's New Global Architecture designed for compact vehicles), which includes standard lowering springs, a more rigid body frame, and an independent MacPherson-type strut front suspension with a stabilizer bar. Additionally, the FX has sport-tuned electric power steering for optimized handling.

Standard Features

Thanks to the TNGA-C platform and lowering springs, this special edition Corolla has a more athletic stance than the standard model, as well as a host of FX-exclusive designs inside and out. Some of its exterior highlights include 18-inch satin-black alloy wheels with machined accents and black lug nuts, a black roof, black mirror caps, a more pronounced rear spoiler, and black badging. It’s available in three eye-catching paint choices – Ice Cap, Midnight Black Metallic, and Underground – with exclusive Moonstone sport fabric seats with orange contrast stitching.

Toyota has based the Corolla FX on the sedan’s SE trim, so the four-door comes with features such as a leather-trimmed steering wheel, wireless smartphone integration, and Bluetooth, along with the aforementioned 10.5-inch infotainment touchscreen. It’s also equipped with a 7-inch digital gauge cluster and the Smart Key System, which allows you to unlock the front doors, open the trunk, and activate the courtesy lights as you approach the car.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

The 2025 Corolla FX is outfitted with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0), a suite of advanced driver-assistive and safety technologies. The TSS 3.0 suite includes proactive driving assist, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, road sign assist, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, and automatic high beams.
