2022 Toyota C-HR for Sale in Smithfield, RI

The crossover style of vehicle, differentiated from SUVs by their smaller size and smoother ride, has taken the automotive world by storm in recent years. Manufacturers have expanded their lineups to include several different size categories, from subcompact on up. The Toyota C-HR is one example of a subcompact crossover with the sought-after combination of style, fuel efficiency, affordability, and features. Plus, it comes with Toyota’s solid reputation for build quality and reliability. One change for model year 2022 is the elimination of the entry-level LE, leaving the XLE as the new base trim.

Trims and Mechanical Specs

The strictly front-wheel-drive Toyota C-HR offers three trim choices: XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited. The powertrain is made up of a 2.0-liter engine (144 horsepower) and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). According the official fuel economy estimates determined by the EPA, the C-HR achieves 27 miles to the gallon around town and 31 mpg on the highway.

Standard Equipment

The XLE slides into the base position with a solid roster of standard features: push-button start, dual-zone auto climate control, sport-fabric seating, heated exterior mirrors with turn-signal and blind-spot warning indicators (as well as an auto-fold feature and puddle lamps), a cabin pollen filter, a tire pressure monitoring system, automatic LED headlights, touch sensor lock and unlock (for the driver, front passenger, and liftgate door handles), sport-bolstered seats (front row), a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, a USB media port, a 60/40-split fold-flat rear seatback, and a cargo-area tonneau cover. The Nightshade Edition has the same standard feature but a sportier look dominated by black exterior elements. The Limited leaves that look behind and adds leather seating (heated in front), LED fog lights, an adaptive front lighting system, and a power driver’s seat. While all ’22 C-HRs have 18-inch alloy wheels, each trim level gets a unique wheel style.

Safety and Driver-Assist Technologies

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, a proprietary bundle of advanced active safety technologies, comes standard on every C-HR. It includes automatic high beams, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard as well. For additional peace of mind, buyers of the C-HR will be glad to hear that it was designated a 2022 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Staying Entertained and Connected

The audio and communication features can be controlled using the 8-inch touchscreen and voice recognition. The system’s noteworthy features are smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), Bluetooth wireless connectivity, Amazon Alexa, an audio system with six speakers, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The optional Audio Plus Package will add high-definition radio.
