Trim Levels, Powertrain, and Performance

The Crown’s four trim levels are XLE, Limited, Nightshade, and Platinum. Its standard powertrain is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder hybrid engine paired with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive (AWD). This system has a net output of 236 horsepower, and the EPA has estimated its fuel economy at 42 mpg city and 41 mpg highway. The standard drive mode selector allows the operator to choose from Normal, EV, and Sport settings according to the situation of the moment.

The Platinum is upgraded to the Hybrid MAX 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, with an output of 340 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This trim’s fuel economy is officially estimated at 29 mpg city/32 mpg highway. Its performance is further enhanced by standard AWD, an adaptive variable suspension and dynamic rear steering. It also has a drive mode selector with six settings: Normal, Eco, Comfort, Sport S, Sport S+, and Custom.

Notable Amenities

As we mentioned above, even the base trim, the XLE, is brimming with sought-after standard features, led by leather upholstery, wireless smartphone charging, 8-way power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also gets heated power-folding side mirrors, LED exterior lighting (headlights/daytime running lights/taillights/brake lights), a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped shift knob, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, five USB ports, a 12V/120W auxiliary power outlet, and a smart key system with push-button start, remote keyless illuminated entry, and a panic button.

The Limited is upgraded with quad-LED projector headlights, a panoramic fixed-glass roof with power sunshade, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and driver’s seat memory. The Nightshade earns its name with black door handles, dark badging, and 21-inch matte-black wheels; it’s also the only trim that’s available in the Storm Cloud paint color. The Platinum sets itself apart with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a head-up display, 21-inch machined-finish alloy wheels with black accents, a power trunk with hands-free kick sensor, and an optional two-tone exterior color upgrade.

Advanced Safety Technology

Every Crown has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, a suite of technologies designed to increase driver awareness and help prevent collisions. This safety package consists of automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert with steering assist, dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, proactive drive assist, and road sign assist. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, along with rear-seat reminder, safe exit assist, and collision sensors that deactivate the high-voltage battery. Front and rear parking assist with automatic braking is added at the Limited level, while the Platinum alone gets advanced park, front cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, traffic jam assist, and a panoramic view monitor with 360-degree overhead view. The Limited is eligible for all of those features (except advanced park) through the optional Advanced Tech Package.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The focal point of the ‘25 Crown’s interior is a 12.3-inch color touchscreen that streams standard features such as wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Each trim also comes with access to Toyota connected services like Drive Connect, Remote Connect, Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Wi-Fi Connect. The Limited and above gain a JBL premium audio system with 11 speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier. The Platinum adds Digital Key capability, which can also be found on the Limited with an Advanced Tech Package upgrade.
