The Venza is offered in a quartet of well-stocked trims: LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited. As a hybrid vehicle, it has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with electric motors to produce 219 combined horsepower. It also comes with standard all-wheel drive, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and a drive mode selector with settings for Sport, Eco, Normal, and EV. The fuel efficiency ratings stay the same across the board, with the EPA estimating 40 miles per gallon in city driving and 37 mpg on the open road.
The LE is a nicely equipped entry-level choice with wireless device charging, cloth seats, a soft-touch dash and armrests, dual-zone automatic climate control, the Smart Key system with push-button start, a 7-inch multi-information display, four USB charge ports, one USB data port, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a leather-trimmed power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, a leather-trimmed shift knob, a 60/40 split fold-flat rear seat with a center armrest, a height-adjustable hands-free power liftgate, a cargo area tonneau cover, a dual chrome-tipped exhaust, and 18-inch multi-spoke two-tone machined alloy wheels. The XLE adds SofTex synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 4-way adjustable passenger seat, a center console with ambient lighting, woodgrain-look interior trim, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a HomeLink universal transceiver, LED fog lights, low-profile silver roof rails, and 19-inch multi-spoke metallic alloy wheels.
The Nightshade Edition changes up its style with a black “VENZA” badge, a black rear Toyota emblem, black outside mirrors, a black acrylic front grille with smoked chrome accents, a black roof-mounted shark-fin antenna, and 19-inch multi-spoke gloss black alloy wheels. Low-profile black roof rails are optional. The Limited has the features of the XLE plus perforated SofTex upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, a 12.3-inch information display, a 10-inch head-up display, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and puddle lamps that project “VENZA” on the ground. The Star Gaze fixed panoramic roof is optional for the Nightshade Edition and Limited.
All Venza trims include the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite of sophisticated driver-assist technologies, which consists of adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high-beams. A rearview camera and blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert come standard as well. Front and rear parking sensors with automatic emergency braking are added at the XLE level, while the Limited gets a surround-view camera.
The LE has an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a sound system with six speakers. The XLE and higher upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen, while the Limited comes with a premium 9-speaker JBL sound system with an amplifier and subwoofer (this is optional on the XLE). All trims come with 30-day free trial to Wi-Fi Connect. Buyers of the Limited receive a one-year trial to Drive Connect (offered via paid subscription for the other trims) for Destination Assist, Cloud Navigation with Google Points of Interest, and advanced Intelligent Assistant voice recognition.
