The 2024 Toyota Tundra offers two body styles (Double Cab or CrewMax), three bed lengths (5.5 feet, 6.5 feet, 8.1 feet), and eight trims: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, 1794 Limited Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone.
Three powertrain options exist, all built from the 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6. The SR gets the base output of 348 horsepower and 405 pounds-feet of torque), while the SR5, Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition are tuned for 389 horsepower and 479 pounds-feet of torque. The most robust powerplant, though, is the i-FORCE MAX hybrid, which employs an electric motor between the gas engine and the transmission for added torque. The result is a whopping 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. The 1794 Limited Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone get the i-FORCE MAX standard, while it’s optional for the Platinum and 1794 Edition. A ten-speed automatic is the sole transmission.
The non-hybrid powertrain with two-wheel drive carries an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Adding four-wheel drive alters that to 17 city/22 highway. The powerful hybrid achieves 19 city/22 highway.
The SR has cloth seats, manually-adjusting front seats, three USB ports, a 4.2-inch color information display, three USB ports, single-zone automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, push-button start, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, a black horizontal-bar grille, and 18-inch steel wheels. The SR5 adds LED fog lights, a deck rail system with four adjustable tie-down cleats, a trailer brake controller, a Class IV tow hitch receiver, a black horizontal-bar grille with a color surround, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Limited includes SofTex simulated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, two added USB ports, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a 12-volt power outlet, a rear center armrest with cupholders, a gray horizontal-bar grille with a satin chrome surround, and 20-inch gray machined alloy wheels. Hybrid variants add a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Added to the Platinum are genuine leather upholstery, wireless device charging, a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, two 120-volt power outlets, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, rear sunshades, a digital rearview mirror, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a dark mesh grille with chrome accents, and 20-inch dark gray alloy wheels.
The 1794 Edition adds walnut interior trim, a 1794 EDITION badge on the instrument panel, 1794 Edition all-weather floor mats, a chrome-accented mesh grille, and 20-inch machined alloy wheels. The 1,500-run 1794 Limited Edition is differentiated by the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain plus a 10-inch color head-up display, trim-specific stamping, power-retractable running boards and BedStep, and 20-inch TRD Off-Road-type matte black alloy wheels.
With the TRD Pro, many of the Platinum’s features are included, along with an off-road suspension, skid plates, all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, a Toyota script grille and integrated light bar, synthetic leather upholstery with camouflage, a red-striped leather-wrapped shift knob, TRD Pro dual black exhaust tips, and 18-inch TRD Pro forged matte black aluminum wheels. The top-of-the-line Capstone starts with the Platinum’s equipment list and adds semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats, a head-up display, power-retractable running boards and BedStep, and 22-inch dark chrome machined alloy wheels.
Toyota offers an array of optional packages for increasing the equipment list on particular trims. For example, eligible configurations can add the TRD Sport Package for a .5-inch lowered suspension and 20-inch wheels. Some of the other available features in the various optional bundles are all-terrain tires, a lifted suspension, a rear locker, Bilstein dampers, skid plates, aluminum pedals, mudguards, 2.5-inch FOX internal bypass coil-overs, a front stabilizer bar, and rear remote-reservoir shocks.
The 2024 Toyota Tundra is equipped with the Safety Sense 2.5 driver-assist suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, pedestrian detection, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring are added at the Limited level. The Platinum incorporates a surround-view camera, while the 1794 Limited Edition gets a multi-terrain monitor and the Capstone adds a panoramic view monitor.
Standard on the SR is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Double Cab Tundras get an audio system with six speakers, while the Crew Cab versions get nine. The Limited and above move up to a 14-inch touchscreen, while the Platinum boasts a 12-speaker premium JBL sound system with an amplifier and subwoofer.
