The Prius await buyers and lessees in three trim grades: LE, XLE, and Limited. The powertrain unites a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors; all-wheel drive (AWD) versions get a third motor on the rear axle. The output is 194 combined horsepower with front-wheel drive (FWD) and 196 hp with AWD. An electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT) completes the mechanical big picture. The drivetrains provide comparable 0-to-60 mph times, with the FWD getting there in 7.2 seconds and the AWD logging 7.0 seconds.
The front-wheel drive Prius LE achieves 57 mpg around town and 56 mpg on the open road, as estimated by the EPA. The figures dip slightly to 52 city/52 highway for the XLE and Limited. The EPA estimates fuel economy of 53 city/54 highway for the AWD LE and 49 city/50 highway for the AWD XLE and Limited.
The value-focused LE has cloth upholstery, the Smart Key system, push-button start, automatic climate control, six-way adjustable front seats, a 7-inch LCD driver information center, a SofTex-trimmed steering wheel, six USB ports (two front, two rear, two center console), 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, LED daytime running lights, heated folding side-view mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Added to the XLE are heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat with a center armrest, wireless device charging, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and 19-inch alloy wheels. At the top of the lineup, the Limited has heated and ventilated front seats, Digital Key capability, driver’s seat position memory, a power liftback, and a fixed glass roof. Heated rear seats and a digital rearview mirror are optional.
Toyota installs the Safety Sense 3.0 driver-assist technology suite in every 2024 Prius. This important feature consists of forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane steering assist, lane tracing assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high-beam headlights, proactive driving assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The XLE and Limited also get front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking. The Limited is eligible for the optional Premium Package containing Toyota’s Advanced Park technology and a 360-degree panoramic view monitor.
The LE and XLE get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment setup with a six-speaker audio system, while the Limited upgrades to a 12.3-inch system with voice recognition and a JBL sound system with amplifier. All three trims come with wireless smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) and Bluetooth for hands-free phone use and audio streaming. Subscription access to a Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Toyota Connected Services is also standard across the board.
