Toyota offers the GR Corolla in three grades: Core, Premium, and Circuit Edition. Under every hood is a 300-horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that creates 273 pounds-feet of torque for a 0-60 mph time of under five seconds. The six-speed manual transmission sends power to all four wheels; the Premium and Circuit Edition get front and rear limited-slip differentials to optimize traction. The operator can use the drive-mode selection to choose from four settings (Normal, Sport, Eco, and Custom) depending on the situation of the moment. Even with the intense power delivery, the GR Corolla provides an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 28 mpg on the highway.
The Core comes nicely equipped with a 12.3-inch digital Multi-Information Display, automatic climate control, fabric-upholstered sport seats with GR-badged headrests and gray stitching, a 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, a 4-way adjustable passenger’s seat, the Smart Key system with remote keyless entry and push-button start, a leather-trimmed tilt-telescopic sport-style steering wheel and shift knob, aluminum pedals, two USB ports, a 12V auxiliary power, and 60/40 split fold-down rear seats with a center armrest and cup holders. This base trim’s exterior styling includes LED lighting (headlamps, daytime running lights, taillights, and fog lights), gloss-black power-operated side mirrors with built-in turn indicators, a matte-black front grille with air ducts, a matte-black rear bumper, color-keyed components (roof-mounted antenna, rear spoiler, and roof), brushed stainless-steel triple exhaust, and 18-inch spoked gloss-black alloy wheels. The available Performance Package will add front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials, a GR logo, and red-painted brake calipers (standard on Premium and Circuit Edition).
The Premium adds Brin Naub and synthetic leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless device charging, a gloss black front grille, and a gloss black rear bumper. The limited-run Circuit Edition has blue seat stitching and interior accents, exclusive badging, a leather-trimmed shift knob with a blue accent stripe, a matte-black roof-mounted shark fin antenna, a forged carbon-fiber roof, a hood bulge with gloss-black air vents, a gloss-black rear spoiler, and 18-inch spoke gloss-black forged alloy wheels.
Toyota equips every GR Corolla with a rearview camera and the Safety Sense 3.0 driver-assist technology suite. This advanced technology package consists of adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high-beams, traffic sign recognition, rear-seat reminder, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Premium and Circuit Edition also get parking sensors for both the front and rear.
The infotainment system in every trim has an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. While the Core has decent sound from its six-speaker audio system, the Premium and Circuit Edition are significantly upgraded with a top-quality JBL unit with an amplifier. Access to Toyota Connected Services is standard as well, for cloud-based navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, emergency assistance, vehicle monitoring, and remote vehicle feature access.
