Trims and Powertrain
There are three trims for the front-wheel-drive 2024 Toyota Corolla Hatchback: SE, Nightshade, and XSE. All versions have a 169-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The EPA has estimated this car’s fuel economy at 32 mpg around town and 41 mpg on the open road, except for the XSE, which is rated for 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. Cargo volume is 17.8 cubic feet behind the rear seats.
Standard Features
The SE comes with a wide array of standard equipment, including features usually reserved for costlier vehicles, like proximity keyless entry. It also has single-zone automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, push-button start, LED exterior lighting with automatic headlights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a rear spoiler, a 4.2-inch driver information display, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The Nightshade is based on the SE but with unique sporty touches, like black exterior styling and 18-inch bronze-finished alloy wheels. The XSE expands on the Corolla Hatchback SE’s by upgrading to dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats with sport bolsters, SofTex-trimmed seating with fabric inserts, an eight-way power driver’s seat, LED fog lights, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, and 18-inch wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes installed on every 2024 Corolla Hatchback. It includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, Proactive Driving Assist (this enhances distance control and provides additional braking support while cornering), road sign assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the XSE and optional on the SE and Nightshade. Every Corolla Hatchback also gets ten airbags, anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability control, traction control, Smart Stop (to prevent unintended acceleration), and a rearview monitor.
Infotainment and Connectivity
All Corolla Hatchbacks have an 8-inch touchscreen to manage the infotainment system. Those features include a six-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and multiple USB ports. Every trim comes with access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and Toyota Connected Services (for emergency help, vehicle monitoring, and other features). An eight-speaker JBL sound system and wireless device charging are on the XSE’s standard equipment list.
