Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

The 2024 Toyota bZ4X is a five-passenger compact crossover made in two trim grades: XLE and Limited. A single front-axle motor is standard in each, spinning the front wheels and producing 201 hp and 196 lb.-ft. of torque. The optional rear-axle motor, which enables all-wheel drive performance, will increase the bZ4X’s total system output to 214 hp and 248 lb.-ft. of torque.

Range and Charging

According to EPA reports, the single-motor XLE provides 252 miles of range, whereas the single-motor Limited, which carries more weight with its additional standard equipment, will give you 236 miles. With the rear motor added, the XLE’s range drops to 228 miles and the Limited’s dips to 222 miles. Both trims come with a useful regenerative braking system that captures and converts the would-be wasted energy formed during braking into power for the battery. For a more efficient and reliable charge, a 240V outlet will fully juice the bZ4X’s 71.4-kWh battery in around 9.5 hours. If you’re on the road and don’t have much time, a public DC fast-charging station will supply an 80 percent charge in as little as 35 minutes.

Notable Amenities

The features of the XLE are impressive for a base trim, as it includes proximity keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers, a windshield wiper de-icer, a panoramic fixed-glass roof, a power liftgate, heated side mirrors with blind-spot warning and turn-signal indicators, and rear privacy glass. It’s also outfitted with push-button start, a blend of fabric and simulated-leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless phone charging, four USB-C ports (two in each row), a 7-inch multi-information display, a 60/40-split folding rear seatback, and a cargo-area tonneau cover.

With the Limited, you’ll get Digital Key, a hands-free liftgate, full synthetic-leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a HomeLink universal garage door opener, and ambient floor lighting. Both trims are eligible for an eye-catching two-tone exterior and a unique split rear roof spoiler. Heated rear seats and a radiant foot-and-leg heater for the front seats are optional.

Driver-Assistive Technologies

The XLE and Limited trims are both set up with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of advanced driving aids (automatic high beams, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist, and proactive driving assist). Both trims also have a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, and safe exit warning. Exclusive to the Limited is a panoramic view monitor and Advanced Park, Toyota’s state-of-the-art automatic parking system.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Protruding from the spacious dashboard is a large 12.3-inch touchscreen housing the 2024 bZ4X’s infotainment system. It features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker sound system. For an even more immersive audio experience, the Limited can be optioned with a premium nine-speaker JBL system. A three-year trial to Toyota’s Drive Connect service is also included with both trims, supplying access to Cloud Navigation with Google Points of Interest, Intelligent Assistant voice recognition, and Destination Assist.
