2022 Toyota GR Supra for Sale in Smithfield, RI
When the Toyota Supra returned to the automotive fold in 2019 after a hiatus of nearly two decades, it reignited a flame for the devotees who had missed it terribly. Now, in model year 2022, the fifth-generation GR Supra goes strong as one of the industry’s top track-ready coupes. It’s a close relative to the BMW Z4, but with definite differences, starting with the Supra’s lower price tag. This year, Toyota has introduced the limited-run A91-CF Edition trim level for the North American market while also improving the 3.0 trim with standard heated seats and eligibility for full-screen Apple CarPlay. The 3.0 Premium adds the option for a red leather interior.
Trims and Powertrain Specs
Four trims are offered with the ’22 GR Supra: the 2.0, 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and A91-CF Edition (limited to 600 units). The 2.0 trim is named for its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which puts out 255 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. The other trims have a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that makes 382 hp and 368 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission that can be controlled via paddle shifters. As is customary with track-ready coupes, the ’22 GR Supra boasts a rear-wheel drivetrain – although Toyota has yet to offer the reborn Supra with a manual transmission. As for its sprinting speed, the 2.0 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds, while the trims with the V6 do it in just 3.9 seconds.
Features by Trim Level
The 2022 Toyota GR Supra is chock-full of great features. When you look over the 2.0, you’ll see gloss-black heated side mirrors with driver-side auto-dimming and passenger-side reverse gear tilt-down, auto-leveling LED headlights, and 18-inch dual-tone wheels. Smart Key, which lets you lock and unlock the doors without using the key fob, is standard along with push-button start, an 8.8-inch digital gauge cluster, black suede-like leather-trimmed sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, knee support cushions, carbon-fiber trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, a USB charging port, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a built-in universal garage door opener.
The performance upgrades to the 3.0 start with an adaptive suspension and Brembo brakes. It also gets 19-inch dual-tone wheels, matte black auto-folding side mirrors with position memory, a power driver’s seat (also with position memory), wireless phone charging, and heated seats. The 3.0 Premium moves up to Brembo brakes with red calipers, sport pedals, full leather sport seats, a black-and-red leather-wrapped steering wheel, a head-up display, and a more powerful USB charging port. The limited-run A91-CF Edition has the 3.0 similar equipment to the Premium but is set apart by matte-black 19-inch wheels, sport seats upholstered in black and red simulated suede, and carbon fiber (hence the CF in the name) trim inside and out. It’s also available in either matte gray Phantom, Absolute Zero White, or Nitro Yellow paint.
Safety and Technology
All four ‘22 GR Supra trims come with a few advanced driver aids, including pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, and automatic high beams. Those who order the 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and A91-CF Edition can opt to add full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors with emergency braking.
Each trim also supports a nice medley of multimedia technologies. The 2.0 and 3.0 have an 8.8-inch digital screen with Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming and SiriusXM satellite radio, but while the 2.0’s sound system gets four speakers, the 3.0’s has 10. Both trims are eligible for an upgrade to an 8.8-inch touchscreen with navigation, voice recognition, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a top-rate 12-speaker JBL sound system, which are all standard in the 3.0 Premium and A91-CF Edition.
