2021 Toyota Sequoia for Sale in Smithfield, RI
For 20 years running, the Toyota Sequoia has been a preferred choice in the somewhat specialized full-sized sport-utility vehicle market. This body-on-frame beast is based on the Tundra pickup truck, which means it’s just as competent around town as it is off the beaten path. That said, if you’re looking to make the most of your trailblazing escapades, the rugged TRD Pro will suit your all-terrain needs and then some. For model year ’21, the Sequoia debuts the Nightshade Special Edition trim, which is set apart by its sleek blacked-out interior and exterior elements.
Trims and Powertrain
The three-row 2021 Toyota Sequoia can seat either seven or eight passengers, depending on the configuration of its second row: either a three-person bench or two captain’s chairs. Buyers can choose from six trim levels – the SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, Nightshade Special Edition, Platinum, and TRD Pro – which all have the same powertrain, a 5.7-liter V8 (381 hp and 401 lb.-ft. of torque) with a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard in all trims but the TRD Pro, which comes only with the four-wheel drivetrain that’s optional for the others. If you need to haul something substantial, note that the ’21 Sequoia has a maximum towing capacity of 7,400 pounds.
Standard and Available Equipment
The SR5 gets 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, heated side mirrors, a windshield wiper de-icer, a roof rack, running boards, a sunroof, keyless entry, push-button ignition, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a USB media port, two USB charge ports, and a 12-volt cargo area power outlet. The second row is set up with a bench that splits 40/20/40 and reclines; it also folds flat with one-touch access to the 60/40 split third-row seat, which also reclines and folds flat. The optional Premium Package will supply leather upholstery, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a power-folding third-row.
The TRD Sport gets exclusive 20-inch wheels, TRD badges, black exterior trim, sport-tuned Bilstein dampers, rigid anti-roll bars, and second-row captain’s chairs (which reduce seating to seven). The TRD Sport Premium Package provides the features from the SR5’s Premium Package, but it swaps in black leather seats with contrast stitching. The TRD Pro has Rigid Industries LED fog lights, skid plates, Fox shocks, 18-inch BBS-forged wheels, a classic TOYOTA grille, black running boards, auto-dimming side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, and a power liftgate.
The Limited loses the specially tuned elements of the TRDs, but it gains 20-inch wheels, chrome exterior accents, and heated front seats, and it brings back the second-row bench seat that ups seating capacity to eight. The Nightshade Special Edition returns the second-row captain’s chairs and receives blacked-out 20-inch wheels plus black exterior and interior trim. The Platinum has everything listed for the SR5 and Limited, plus an adaptive suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, and ventilated front seats, and a rear-seat Blu-Ray entertainment system. This trim’s heated exterior mirrors are deluxe as well: they’re power-folding and auto-dimming, with built-in turn-signal indicators, position memory, and reverse tilt-down function.
Safety and Technology
Every ’21 Sequoia gets the Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) bundle of active safety technologies that includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, dynamic radar cruise control, and lane departure warning. Also standard across the board are front and rear parking sensors and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
The SR5 and TRD Sport have an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, satellite and HD radio, and an eight-speaker audio system. The Premium Package for both trims upgrades the situation with a deluxe eight-speaker audio system and navigation. The Limited and Nightshade Special Edition include navigation and an upgraded 12-speaker audio system. The Platinum and TRD Pro receive a booming 14-speaker JBL sound system that has Clari-Fi, a subwoofer, and an amplifier.
