Now, all Tacomas will receive an upgraded audio system and larger touchscreen display. Below, we will take a look at some of the Tacoma’s new and exciting features for the upcoming model year.

Trims and Mechanical Features

The ’20 Tacoma is available in six trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Limited. Similar to last year, the engine choices are a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder or a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6; both engines are paired to a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence, but the V6 also has the option to be paired to a six-speed manual transmission. The four-cylinder engine delivers 159 horsepower and 180 lb.-ft. of torque, while the V6 produces a much more formidable 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque. The V6 models, which come standard with the towing package, are also capable of pulling up to 6,800 lb. This towing package includes a Class IV receiver hitch, automatic transmission fluid cooler, engine oil cooler, power steering cooler, 130-amp alternator, and Trailer-Sway Control. Although the EPA’s figures are not out yet, the ’20 Tacoma is expected to get up to 20 mpg city and 23 mpg highway.

This year, the SR trim features a newly designed grille and taillights. It will also receive a new multimedia system featuring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Sirius XM capability, all controlled via a 7-inch touchscreen. The SR5 gets updated seatbacks with a new fabric design, darker taillight housings, and an available LED bed lamp and daytime running lights option.
