2020 Toyota RAV4 for Sale in Smithfield, RI
Toyota’s ever-popular RAV4 crossover returns in 2020 with plenty of compelling reasons to choose it over its competitors. The biggest news is the introduction of a TRD Off-Road trim level, which is set apart by special 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, a TRD Off-Road suspension, and other trail-ready reinforcements. Android Auto and satellite radio are standard across the board, too, and the XLE model receives a power driver’s seat while the mid-range Adventure trim gains a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter. Finally, the top-trim Limited is supplied with a premium JBL audio system and integrated navigation.
Trims and Powertrain
The 2020 Toyota RAV4 is available in six trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. There’s also a hybrid version, but this page will focus solely on the standard gas-only model. The sole engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque; its partner is an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on all trims except for the Adventure and TRD Off-Road, which get all-wheel drive. AWD is optional for the other versions, but while the LE and XLE will get the RAV4’s basic AWD unit, the Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited are upgraded with Toyota’s torque-vectoring AWD system, which shifts power between the rear wheels as needed to improve traction on slick roads.
Comfort and Convenience
The base LE is decently equipped with power side mirrors, a rearview camera, a 60/40 spilt-reclining fold-flat rear seat, and keyless entry. The XLE adds a bunch of handy features, such as heated side mirrors with built-in turn signal and blind-spot indicators, fog lights, outside door handles with front-row touch-sensor lock and unlock, dual-zone automatic temperature control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, Smart Key for the front doors and liftgate, and push-button start. The XLE Premium gets larger wheels, a sunroof, and SofTex-trimmed seats. The Adventure trim is aimed at active people who want an uptick in off-pavement capabilities along with some styling upgrades. It gets trim-specific wheels, trail-ready fender flares, taller roof rails, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, and selectable drive modes. It loses the sunroof and power liftgate found on the XLE Premium, though.
The TRD Off-Road returns the sunroof and power liftgate and enhances the Adventure’s list of features with all-terrain tires, an off-road suspension, special TRD badging inside and out, and trim-specific interior trim. The plush Limited rounds out the accommodations with heated front seats, a virtual rearview mirror, puddle lights, and low-profile black roof rails. Many of the Limited’s features can be added to the XLE, XLE Premium, and Adventure trims through a series of optional packages. Other noteworthy add-ons include a surround-view parking camera, a panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and wireless smartphone charging.
Safety & Technology
All versions of the 2020 Toyota RAV4 get the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 system of driver safety aids. This includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, full-speed range dynamic cruise control, and road sign assist. Other active safety technologies, namely a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, are available on higher trims either as standard features or as part of optional packages.
The LE, XLE, and XLE Premium each come with a 7-inch touchscreen interface, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth hands-free, satellite radio, and a six-speaker audio system. An 8-inch touchscreen display with HD radio is optional for both the XLE and XLE Premium but is standard with the Adventure and TRD Off-Road. An 11-speaker JBL audio system is available for the XLE Premium, Adventure, and TRD Off-Road, while the Limited comes with the JBL audio system and integrated navigation as standard equipment.
