2019 Toyota RAV4
Toyota’s most exciting utility vehicle is back from a complete redesign, and it’s set to win over even more buyers in the crossover market. With a larger and more modern appearance, the all-new RAV4 enters 2019 in style. Along with more interior space, this model year brings more horsepower, better fuel economy, and improved technology and safety features. Its innovative Dynamic Torque Vectoring with Rear Driveline Disconnect all-wheel drive system is also noteworthy for its advanced technology for the enhanced way in which it delivers power to the individual wheels.
Trims and Mechanical Features
This year’s RAV4 is available in five different trims (LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, and Limited) with a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine with dual variable valve timing with intelligence. This powerplant delivers 203 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. All models are equipped with front-wheel drive (with all-wheel drive available), except for the Adventure trim, which comes standard with AWD. All trims also come standard with a direct shift 8-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence and sequential shift mode. The FWD versions deliver up to an EPA-rated 26 mpg city and 35 mpg highway, while the AWD trims produce up to 27 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.
The base LE model comes standard with a load of great features, such as a climate control system with dust and pollen filter, integrated backup camera, remote keyless entry system, the Entune 3.0 audio/infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Toyota’s patented Safety Sense driver-assist/safety technology suite. The higher-tier XLE gets a power tilt/slide moonroof, dual-zone auto climate control, a smart key system with push-button start, and four additional USB ports. While it’s similar to the XLE, the XLE Premium upgrades from cloth to SofTex-trimmed seating surfaces and from 17-inch to 19-inch chrome alloy wheels. The standard-AWD Adventure model receives a first-ever multi-terrain select feature, as well as 19-inch matte black alloy wheels and the upgraded Entune 3.0 Audio Plus, which features a larger 8-inch touchscreen and SiriusXM satellite radio compatibility. Last, the highest-tier Limited trim includes heated SofTex front seats, the further-upgraded Entune 3.0 Premium Audio system with dynamic navigation, and a digital rearview mirror with HomeLink universal transceiver.
Safety and Technology
Improving on the already impressive safety features of the previous model year, the 2019 RAV4 comes standard with a variety of innovative features. Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 includes high-tech safety features such as a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist, which scans common road signs (such as speed limits and yield) and provides the appropriate warning to the driver. The Star Safety System adds enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, and brake assist with smart stop technology. In addition, the RAV4 prides itself on its advanced eight-airbag system and Safety Connect, which includes emergency assistance, stolen vehicle locator, and roadside assistance and automatic collision notification.
This year’s RAV4 allows you to stay connected better than ever before through Entune 3.0 Audio. This multimedia system includes six speakers, a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, a USB media port, and Bluetooth wireless technology. The upgraded versions of Entune 3.0 Audio also have available Scout GPS Link, SiriusXM satellite radio, dynamic navigation, a larger 8-inch touchscreen, and 11 speakers with a subwoofer, among other possible features. Other available advanced technology features include a bird’s-eye view camera with perimeter scan, digital rearview mirror with HomeLink universal transceiver, and an integrated panoramic backup camera with dynamic guidelines.
